How did you discover Wingnut?
I first heard of Wingnut through the grapevine of the New Paltz cycling community, years later I met the founder Scott at a community cycling meetup. I was drawn to Scott’s innovative design and grassroots origins, not to mention the sleek and minimalist aesthetics.
What is it about outdoors and adventure that you love?
I’ve been adventuring outdoors as often as possible since I was just weeks old sailing with my Dad. As I grew older I recognized the deep, and instinctual importance of movement outdoors for human emotional wellbeing. I love the creativity, the sweat and suffering, and the camaraderie it brings to my life.
What are your top three outdoor activities?
Climbing, Cycling, Snowboarding
What is important to you about your gear & why?
My gear is what allows me to push harder, explore further, and recreated safely. I need my gear to be durable, functional, easily repaired, and lightweight.
If you could plan a bucket list trip what would it be?
Sail to down through the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, strike land somewhere in Peru, bike pack down to Patagonia, climb in the Fitz Roy range, and reverse back up!
How big is year gear closet?
It’s an entire wing of my house…
What is your favorite picnic lunch, location and with who?
Blue cheese, Brie, fruits, chip, hummus, at the top of the Near Trapps cliff, with my partner, Bella, and my black cat, Nori.
Please explain your job or commitment to outdoors and adventure
I’m the Chief of a mountain Search and Rescue (SAR) team, and I spend as many waking hours recreating outdoors as possible.
