Adventure Racing & Sea Kayaking
We were first introduced to Wingnut Gear Packs by Scott Gibson right after our 2nd Place finish of the Baja Travesia in 2007, a near 300 mile expedition adventure race over the Baja Peninsula.
Since then, we have worn Wingnut Packs 3, 4, 5, and even 6 days a week; we mountain bike, run, speed hike, or paddle; and usually we are doing combinations of these sports.
We compete in orienteering events, adventure races, long distance mountain bike rides, multi-sport fitness competitions, and in long distance kayak races.
Four times now; we've taken 1st Place in the Everglades Challenge; which some have called the toughest small boat race in the world. We don't need Wingnut Packs in this race; but we need Wingnut Packs as we train for the race.
We'll mountain bike, stash the bikes, run, and return. We'll paddle upstream in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, run up a canyon, down another, then return. During our cross country runs; our course most always takes us over multiple terrain types, requiring rock climbing and or canyoneering skills.
In all these endeavors, whether training or competing; we've found Wingnut Packs to be just what we need. You wear these packs, you don't carry them. They become part of what you wear, just like your clothing.
